Restraint of Livestock 01 (2013)

Temple Grandin (29-8-1947), developed a system of movement of livestock from the Storage area to the site slaughter, her position on what she calls “humane slaughter” and appropriate methods of slaughter begins, not with an explanation of the benefits to the animal, but to its economic / legal compliance

. The "Restraint of Livestock 01" installation imitates this stagy of animals during handling and transport, and parallels it with the political practices and methods of complacency, avoiding attacks and repression of the crowd.

IN TREATMENT (2012)

At his first solo exhibition in Cube Gallery, Makis Kyriakopoulos presents the `IN TREATMENT` installation. The first part of the installation is built-in of 6 sound recordings which is a diary of a strong up-and-down psychological state, with confessions that we could hear only in psychiatrist's chair. In the second part of the installation are painted images of nature that helps the sensation of soothing and recovery.

_"There is little conjunction of truth and social 'reality'. Around us are pseudo-events, to which we adjust with a false consciousness adapted to see these events as true and real, and even as beautiful. In the society of men the truth resides now less in what things are than in what they are not. Our social realities are so ugly if seen in the light of exiled truth, and beauty is almost no longer possible if it is not a lie."

The mechanical parts of the machine provide a physical experience for the whole body. A walk that will remain unforgettable to you, your family and pet.

summertime chat and flirt project (2007)

CHAT and FLIRT PROJECT is an interventionist action in the project of Litsas Sepyrgioti “shop window project” in the space of D 642.

_In this project, the object to be exchanged is in fact the materialization of each customer’s wish to alter his or hers facial characteristics (portrait) in order to obtain a new identity, which will be used to communicate with the rest of the participants of the project.

_During the project individuals that will be participating will be photographed on the spot and their image will be processed though a laptop using photoshop.

_Each participant will receive a coupon with an access code for the website of the project. Once a participant enters the project’s website, he or she will have the opportunity to print the outcome of the processing of his or her facial characteristics (portrait) and will also have the opportunity to have access to the portraits of other participants and even the possibility to send and receive messages.

Moved in project (2006)

_The Moved in project consists of a 3 hour video projection, a MDF construction to be installed next to the projection and a site on a PC which will be placed in the room. The video projection shows a man, in actual size, walking out of the MDF construction, holding a carton box, leaving it down and then going inside the construction again in order to fetch another box.Consequently carton boxes pile up during the 3 hour duration of the projection.

_The goal of the project is to detect the procedure by which memory either personal or collective interprets, defines and reiterates a space and its usage as well as the actions that take place in it. Consequently the action of moving and transporting carton boxes is identified with the transformation and the alteration of a given space into something else.

_The natural light that comes from the windows of the exhibition area also participates in the installation, drastically fading the projection, disconnecting it from the TV-like projection, so that the picture loses its credibility.

POP-UP Project (2005)

MAKIS KYRIAKOPOULOS - NIKOS DOULOS

_The “pop-up” project What drew our attention in D624 was the transformation of a window screen to an art space, that basically works as a centre point rather than an exhibition space.

_Our project aims to examine the characteristics of the space, their purpose concerning the way art is being exploited and therefore the effect this has in the mass art “production”. An attempt to find the space’s correlation to a digital interactive environment (internet) and create a parallel space, a parallel reality.“pop-up”(commercial windows) appear as pirate adds, occasionally annoying for the users, in various websites. The correlation of space D624 with a POP-UP is in fact hat relation mentioned above.
